I tried to install a custom ROM on my htc one X without making any backup. My new custom ROM did not installed correctly. It is just showing X type logo of custom ROM after htc splash screen. I can go to hboot, fastboot and recovery menus. I can also access the memory card. My problem is that I do not know how can I add new custom ROM on memory card so I can install it. Please help.

Rooting HTC Evo on Froyo 2.2 and installing a custom rom

I just received the latest update from HTC. They have installed more bloatware on my phone and I've finally had enough. I want to root. I found this rom and this guide on how to root. But the root guide says outdated so I'm worried.

Firstly, however, is my concern about ruining my phone. I consider myself tech savvy, and I plan on following directions exactly, but in my experience sometimes following the directions doesn't yield expected results. Is there a way to back out once I've started rooting/flashing?

    Phone Information (HTC Evo)

    • Android Version: 2.2
    • Kernel version: 2.6.32.17
    • Software number: 3.70.651.1
    • HBoot: 2.10.0001

Is that guide going to work? is there a better way to root? I'm assuming the version of the HTC software doesn't matter for rooting. How do I root and then flash in the custom rom? Do I even need to root to flash in the custom rom (does the rom it come rooted?) How do I flash in the custom rom?
